Obsession by Amanda Robson Review

Hi ForeverBookers,

I've just finished Obsession and it was good. There are lots of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. I wasn't 100% sure what was going to happen throughout, which I liked.

Thank you to NetGalley for granting me permission to read Obsession. It was a great read. Obsession is definitely an ADULT read as there are sex scenes as well as disturbing content too.

We follow four people in Obsession. Rob, a doctor who's also very religious, Carly, a nurse and Rob's wife, Jenni another very religious person and Craig, Jenni's husband. We see from all of their perspectives throughout the novel. This was interesting but also a little jarring at times.

Mental health is brought up in Obsession. Carly, who doesn't know who she truly loves, suffers, Jenni also suffers to an extent. I thought the author did a good job writing about the mental health issues. Although the book wasn't solely focused on them, enough time was given for them to seem believable. One of the character's mental health issues' does focus around sex addiction so if you're unsure about reading this, then maybe don't.

Obsession is really about 2 couples and how they betray each other to get what they want. Carly and Rob are a couple and Jenny and Craig are a couple at the beginning. Carly and Craig are also having an affair at the beginning as well though. Jenny tries to get revenge on Carly for sleeping with her husband. What is this revenge? You'll have to read to find out...

Religion plays a big role in this book, so if you're not into that perhaps don't pick it up. Rob and Jenny refer to God a lot and what He would want them to do in their chapters. Both of these characters go to church to seek splice for what they've done or what they Night do as well.

I thought the story ended rather abruptly. Things were happening and then they just stopped. I would have liked to have seen a more definite ending as it would have been more realistic. We didn't really get all the answers, at least I didn't. This book isn't the sort of book that has sequels, I don't think. I could be wrong but when I read the ending I just thought "meh", like I wanted more.

What I liked about Obsession...
I liked how we got to read from the four main characters perspectives. This worked well with how topsy-turvy the book actually is.

I liked how this didn't shy away from being bold with some of the scenes the way a YA version of Obsession would.

What I didn't like about Obsession...
I didn't like how quickly the ending came about.

Overall, I enjoyed Obsession. I thought it had an exciting plot line that I didn't want to stop reading! I recommend it for adults who like tense, character driven stories.

Heartless (Chestnut Springs #2) by Elsie Silver Review

Hey ForeverBookers,   I’m back! I’ve finished another book!  “ Heartless”   by Elsie Silver was AMAZING!!!! I absolutely LOVED it!!! This is book 2 in the “Chestnut Springs” series and it’s about Cade, Rhett’s brother from “Flawless,” #1, and his romance with Willa, Summer’s, from book 1’s best friend.  I read Heartless for a few readathons  Reading Rivalry - Multiple POV - “ Heartless” is told from both Willa and Cade’s perspectives. Always Fully Booked Reading Challenge - Book set in Canada - I   believe Chestnut Springs is set in the Rockies.   Always Fully Booked “On the Cover” Reading Challenge - A Musical Instrument - A guitar ! Willa, our FMC plays guitar.  Reading the Rainbow challenge - pastel - the background of the  “ Heartless”   cover is pastel blue!  “ Heartless”   had EVERYTHING I love, an FMC who’s stuck in life, a wild, yet sensitive MMC, funny moments, cute scenes, spicy scenes, heartfelt ...

Her Majesty’s Royal Coven (HMRC #1) by Juno Dawson Review

Hey ForeverBookers, How are you all? Hope you’re good! I’ve just finished  “Her Majesty’s Royal Coven”  by Juno Dawson and I surprisingly really enjoyed it! I didn’t think I’d hate it but I thought it would be 3 stars, but it turns out it’s a 4 star read for me, maybe even a 4.5! It had a lot of things I like but some parts were forgettable, like the names of the lesser used characters. The plot, though was solid! I’m a character over plot person, as you’d know through reading my other reviews, but the main/most prominent character from this book, Niamh will be my favourite, I’m sure! I think that’s why I’ve rated  “Her Majesty’s Royal Coven”  so highly! 4 Stars! “Her Majesty’s Royal Coven”  tells the story of a coven of witches that need to save or at least help a young male witch who’s more than he seems. Niamh, who I’d say is the main character of the current witches has a twin sister called Ciara who has had her power stripped before the book starts! Why, yo...

Rebound (The Pentagon Book 1) by Rosemary Rey Review

Hey ForeverBookers,  How are you all doing today? I hope you’re well!  I’ve just finished rereading Rebound by Rosemary Rey and I loved it! From recollection I loved it the first time I read it as well, about 5 years ago.  5 Stars! I read this for a few readathons: For Reading Rivalry - A book I think should be turned into a movie - I’d love to see this play out on television, actually but a movie is close enough.  For Litwits - A love story - that’s the central plot of Rebound and the whole Pentagon trilogy.  Literary Love Affair - Soulmate Love - Perla and Matt are what I class as realistic soulmates. Popsugar Reading Challenge 2019 - A book by an author whose first and last names start with the same letter - Rosemary Rey.  Rebound is set in America and is about an almost 30 year old woman, Perla Mercurio and a doctor, Matthias Keene who have a very passionate affair...do they fall in love??? You’ll have to read to find ...
