Empty Smiles (Small Spaces #4) by Katherine Arden Review

Hey ForeverBookers,   I’ve finished  “Empty Smiles”  by Katherine Arden and I enjoyed it. I’d say it was a far simpler story than the other three in the series but I liked it all the same. It didn’t scare me at all but I’m not afraid of clowns.  3 Stars! “Empty Smiles”  is based around a carnival with evil clowns, as well as the Smiling Man. Ollie needs to be saved from the Smiling Man. That’s basically the overall point of this novel, after what happened to her in  “Dark Waters,”  book 3, where she drowned on the island and the Smiling Man took her. We see chapters with what she’s experiencing at the carnival, as well as what’s happening to Brian and Coco and Phil too. Can her friends save her or will she be forever at the mercy of the Smiling Man?  I read  “Empty Smiles”  for a couple of readathons! They were:  Reading Rivalry - Blended Family - there’s a hint of a future whereby 2 of the parents get together in  “Empt...

The Love Hypothesis (STEM #1) by Ali Hazelwood review

Hey ForeverBookers, I’ve just finished  “The Love Hypothesis”  by Ali Hazelwood, an adult contemporary romance and I flipping LOVED it!!! I didn’t think it would be for me because of the STEM aspect, but boy was I wrong!  Olive, our main character is a woman in STEM, which was interesting to read about. The novel didn’t focus much on the STEM aspects which I appreciated. It was very much in the background.  “The Love Hypothesis”   tells the story of Olive and her love life.  I read The Love Hypothesis for a couple of readathons, which were: Reading Rivalry: Fortune Cookies -  there’s a scene in The Love Hypothesis where the 2 main characters get fortune cookies. What do they reveal? I’ll let you read for yourself.  Always Fully Booked 2025 Reading Challenge - Women in STEM -  Olive, our main female character is working as a scientist.  “The Love Hypothesis” does have a sex scene and some more abusive words in the middle. Spoilers below! ...

The Deal (Off Campus #1) by Elle Kennedy Review

Hey ForeverBookers, It feels really good to be writing this review so quickly after my last review and the loooooooong break! Anyway, needless to say, I FLEW through the Deal by Elle Kennedy and I BLOODY LOVED it!!! “The Deal”  follows Hannah, a music student and Garrett a hockey player and their romance! There’s humour, romance, sex and a third act breakup, but is there a happy ending for Hannah and Garrett? I’ll let you read for yourself! The story is told in duel POV too! I appreciated this because I love hearing what the characters actually think themselves, rather than reading through the 3rd person guise. I read this for one readathon.  Reading Rivalry - Teenage Angst -  I think  “The Deal”  is perfect for this because the whole book is basically teenage angst!  (NOTE: there’s a swear word in one of the quotes I’ve quoted below). Spoilers below… “Seriously, Han, you’re young and beautiful, and I want you to fall in love. I don’t care who it’s w...
