Pop Princess by Rachel Cohn Review

Hi ForeverBookers, How are you all today? I hope the hot weather isn’t bothering you too much if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, like me!  I’ve just finished Pop Princess by Rachel Cohn and I enjoyed it. It was a reread. I remember this because the book was part of a book fair at school and I had to be 13 years old to buy it because of the content. I was 12 at the time, though nearly 13 so I got a friend who was 13 to buy it for me! I don’t suggest lying to get a book by the way. Anyway, Pop Princess tells the story of a 16 year old girl (for the majority), Wonder, and her quest to become a pop princess. She’s lost her sister through a car hitting her before the story starts. Does she enjoy the quest for stardom or is she surprised by certain aspects? You’ll need to read to find out!  I read Pop Princess for a few readathons/book challenges. They were: Cardcaptor-a-thon - The Song - Read a book to do with music! Pop Princess fits perfectly as it’s about a gir...

Me, My Dad And The End Of The Rainbow by Benjamin Dean Review.

Hi ForeverBookers,   How are you all doing? I hope you’re well! I’ve just finished reading “Me, My Dad And The End Of The Rainbow,” by Benjamin Dean and I LOVED it! I read it specifically in June because it has LGBTQ+ themes as well as it being a summer contemporary. 5 Stars!  “Me, My Dad And The End Of The Rainbow” is a middle grade story, focused on the middle grade market. This makes it easy and fun to read, while being informative of LGBTQ+ rights and themes to a younger audience. There's a leaflet that is actually in the text to read. The story id about Archie, a young boy trying to mend his family while discovering secrets long hidden about his dad. I really enjoyed the artwork inside the book too. There isn't too much but it just adds to the story in my opinion. The readathons I read “Me, My Dad And The End Of The Rainbow” for are: The Cardcaptor-A-Thon - The Voice - A card that steals a character’s voice…Read a book that has a meaning beyond the s...

The Orange Grove by Rosanna Ley Review

Hi ForeverBookers,  How are you all? Hope you’re enjoying the hot weather if you’re in the northern hemisphere like I am. It feels like we get so little of it! I’ve just finished “The Orange Grove” by Rosanna Ley, which I absolutely loved! The story is set in the UK and Seville, Spain. I loved learning more about Spain, a place that I haven’t ever really wanted to go. This review will be pretty basic because “The Orange Grove” doesn’t have any magical aspects.  I read “The Orange Grove” for a couple of readathons. They were: Reading Rivalry - A book with a colour in the title - the title is “The Orange Grove,” which refers to the fruit but it’s still a colour too! Popsugar Challenge 2021 - A book set somewhere you want to visit in 2021 - If I could I’d LOVE to visit Seville, where “The Orange Grove” is set primarily because the author just makes it sound perfect and magical, even though this is very much a contemporary story. We follow Holly, a girl in her early thirties ...

Take Me Home Tonight by Morgan Matson review!

Hi ForeverBookers,  How are you all today? I hope you’re good! I’ve just finished “Take Me Home Tonight” by Morgan Matson, which I buddyread with a friend. I had fun with this novel. It was an easy standalone to read, which wasn’t intense at all—perfect for summer!  I read “Take Me Home Tonight” for a couple of Readathons. They were: * Cardcaptor-a-thon - The Float - Read a contemporary... I note down below that I don’t read too many contemporaries. Even though I have several on this months TBR - who knew... * My buddyread with my Canadian friend - She enjoyed the book too, and finished it much quicker than I did! * Reading Rivalry for page points as I started it at the end of May! Whatever-You-Want-A-Thon - Maddy (Book Browsing Blog on Youtube) is hosting a readathon this month with specific prompts. “Take Me Home Tonight” works as my “Cover With Your Team Colour On The Cover” as the authors name is orange and the cabs come across to me as a shade of orange. *Popsugar ...

Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb (The Liveship Traders Book 1) Review

Hey ForeverBookers,   How are you all doing today? I’m sorry that I seem to have been gone for a LONG time again, but I’ve FINALLY finished “Ship of Magic” book 1 of the “Liveship Traders” trilogy by Robin Hobb! I’m making it sound like I didn’t enjoy it but I really DID! It’s a very long book, not as long as “IT” by Stephen King but still long, with lots of elements to make it up. 5 Stars!!! I only read Ship Of Magic for one readathon, which was:  * Reading Rivalry - page points - I read from page 533 to page 880 in May! * PopSugar Reading Challenge, 2021 - A book featuring three generations - Ephron, Keffria/Altthea and Wintrow/Malta.  * It doesn’t work for any of my left over Cardcaptor-a-thon prompts, unfortunately. My next read will, though! This adult fantasy is a part of the “Realm Of The Elderlings” series by Robin Hobb. It’s book 1 to the 2nd trilogy of it, the “Liveship Traders.” It follows Althea Vestrit primarily, as she loses her father, Eph...
