Covet Me (Royals Saga #5) by Geneva Lee Review

Hey ForeverBookers,

It seems ages since I’ve posted but I’m back. I’ve just read perhaps my favourite contemporary romance book of the year so far! “Covet Me” by Geneva Lee is soooooooo good!

5 Stars!

“Covet Me” continues the story of Belle Stewart and Smith Price from “Crave Me” (book 4). This is a direct sequel so the events from book 4 to book 5 happen within days of each other. “Covet Me” is told in first person from both our MFC, Belle and our MMC, Smith’s POVs. This was good to see, as we could understand both characters better. I really loved this book! It has everything in it that I love, a wronged man, a girl trying to save him, passion (and boy, oh boy there was LOADS of that), as well as a trip to New York, somewhere I’ve always wanted to go! The main plot is centred around Smith and his nuances and wanting to change for Belle, the woman he falls desperately in love with. Can he change for the good of their relationship? I’ll let you read for yourself! In the background, there’s a plot of revenge too. I won’t write more on that here, but it’s there.

I read Covet Me for one readathons, which was:

Reading Rivalry - Muliple POV - Covet Me is told from both Belle and Smith’s perspectives!

Spoilers below…

“Trailing the back of my hand over her cheek, I murmured, “I’m so fucking proud of you.”

“I haven’t done anything yet,” she whispered, an uncharacteristically shy edge running through her words.

“Don’t do that,” I ordered. “Don’t doubt yourself, because there’s nothing to doubt.”

She tilted her face against my hand, her eyes closing. “I needed to hear that.”

“I’m going to tell you every day,” I promised her. I would find a way to, even if it was nothing more than a text. My business was built on the bones of my father. Everything about my life was the result of my own broken soul. Belle’s career would never be that way. It would be honest and empowering and daring—just like her.

“I miss you,” she said in a low voice that sliced through me.

“I know, beautiful.” Cupping her jaw, I angled my mouth to meet hers and brushed a kiss over her lips. “This won’t last forever.”

This scene is significant because it shows just how proud of Belle, her lover, Smith is. This happens at the beginning of the book when Belle is setting up her fashion business “Bless,” with the help of Clara’s, our FMC from the first trilogy’s sister, Lola. Throughout the book there are plenty of moments where Smith shows how proud of Belle he is. Some of which, range into the sexual category. For example, when they are in New York, they have lots of sex to make up for lost time, because before that they’re separated because Belle doesn’t agree with Smith, typically. Belle, in the first three books in the Royals Saga was in love with and set to marry a high up character, Phillip. But he dumped her in a pathetic way. This novel really takes our main characters, Belle and Smith on a journey. They both know what they want, each other, but they need to make the other see and know how much. This is what they struggle with, I believe.

There’s another plot point in that Smith used to work for Hammond, a nasty man with a penchant for mental and physical abuse. Can he get over this with Belle’s help or does she just endanger herself and him? I’ll let you read for yourself but the plot is made up of this and the romance, which I was totally here for!

Covet Me is the perfect title for this book. Both Belle and Smith covet each other but to what cost? Is it worth it?

Overall then, I loved this book! It had everything that I look for in a good story as I’ve noted above. That’s why I’m easily giving it 5 stars!

American Royals (#1 American Royals) by Katharine McGee review

Hey ForeverBookers,   I’ve just finished American Royals by Katherine McGee and I LOVED it! If you love scandal and complicated love stories in a contemporary setting, then you will love it as well! Think a royal version of Gossip Girl and you have this book in a nutshell. American Royals follows six characters, all of the new adult age range that come together to create a story of intrigue and romance. There isn’t high action or really a plot outside of the romance which was fine with me as I really enjoy stories just focused on the romance. I appreciated how “American Royals” only focused on the six different characters. There weren’t loads of personalities to get to know, and they all followed the same pattern as they’re all from or have grown up around a certain standing in society. This made the characters easy to follow and understand. It is a character led story, without as I said, much plot.  What there is of a plot of American Royals is taken up with the ascension of ...

The Flat Share by Beth O’Leary Review

Hi foreverBookers,  How are you all today? I hope you’re well! I’ve just finished reading “The Flat Share” by Beth O’Leary and I’m surprised to say that I VERY MUCH enjoyed it!  4 Stars! I only wanted to read “The Flat Share” because of the TV show that’s just come out in the UK! Beth O’Leary books seemed uninteresting to me before. I will probably read more from her in the future now as I enjoyed this one so much! “The Flat Share” had romance and fluff as well as more serious topics though, which was nice to see. Leon, the main male character is black. I don’t think we see many people of colour in books based in the UK or even the States. I can only think of two that I’ve read and reviewed that feature black characters and I’ve reviewed a lot of books! This was nice to see. It’s very much a white dominant industry, I feel. “The Flat Share” tells the story of a young woman, Tiffy who needs a house to live in, when she breaks up with her long term boyfriend, Justin. He’s ve...
