Operation Nativity by Jenny Pearson Review!

 Hi ForeverBookers,

I have read something else before the end of the year! I’ve just finished Operation Nativity by Jenny Pearson and I absolutely LOVED it! It was SUCH a quick read because it was sooooo funny and entertaining because of the characters!

5 Stars!

Operation Nativity tells the story of Oscar, a young boy, who just so happens needs to save Christmas to save the world as he knows it with the help of his hilarious little sister, Molly, a wise man, the angel Gabriel and Mary and Joseph. There are serious stories going on at the same time, about loss of a loved one and the nativity. There’s also entertaining artwork as well!

I read Operation Nativity for a few readathons. They were:

Reading Rivalry - Last Christmas - because it’s Oscar’s Grandfather’s last healthy Christmas!

Always Fully Booked Reading Challenge - A 2023 Award Winning Book - The Laugh Out Loud Book Award!

Always Fully Booked - On The Cover Challenge - Glasses - Grandmother wears glasses on the cover.

Spoilers Below!

“I mean, I definitely thought I was worth saving…” is what Oscar, our lead protagonist says at around a quarter of the way through “Operation Nativity.” He believes that HE is worth saving because of course he does! What young child, doesn’t think they’re the most important thing in the world…it’s everyone else he’s not so sure about…

I absolutely adored the characters of Operation Nativity. They’re what really makes this book worth the read. From the stuffy grandmother, to Oscar, to Molly his little sister, who was utterly adorable and hilarious every time she spoke, I really fell in love with them all. Even the characters that didn’t have much time on page, like Oscar and Molly’s grandfather and parents!

Oscar’s Grandfather is dying we’re told at the beginning of the story. That’s why Oscar, Molly and their parents have to go to their very posh Grandmother’s estate, Barlington Hall, to perform in the Nativity.

What ensues from then on is basically an adventure for Oscar and Molly where they need to find the nativity characters, the Angel Gabriel, Steve, the Shepherd, and Mary and Joseph all in JUST a number of days! Can it be done? Can they save Christmas? You’ll need to read to find out!

Operation Nativity is a simple but very, very, very funny story. It had me cackling, which is something I never do when I read! I loved everything from the characters, which made the story as I said above, to the plot, which although simple was fun, to how it was set in England, where I’m from. This meant I knew where places were, which was nice! I’ll definitely reread this for a few Christmases to come - HO, HO, HO! Merry Christmas 2024!

I’ll try and read one more book too!

American Royals (#1 American Royals) by Katharine McGee review

Hey ForeverBookers,   I’ve just finished American Royals by Katherine McGee and I LOVED it! If you love scandal and complicated love stories in a contemporary setting, then you will love it as well! Think a royal version of Gossip Girl and you have this book in a nutshell. American Royals follows six characters, all of the new adult age range that come together to create a story of intrigue and romance. There isn’t high action or really a plot outside of the romance which was fine with me as I really enjoy stories just focused on the romance. I appreciated how “American Royals” only focused on the six different characters. There weren’t loads of personalities to get to know, and they all followed the same pattern as they’re all from or have grown up around a certain standing in society. This made the characters easy to follow and understand. It is a character led story, without as I said, much plot.  What there is of a plot of American Royals is taken up with the ascension of ...

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty Review

Hi ForeverBookers,  How are you all today? I've just finished a great contemporary book! 4 Stars! NOTE: There are scenes of abuse and bullying in Big Little Lies so if you're sensitive about either of those topics this book maybe isn't for you.  Big Little Lies tells several stories at once. There's the story about the trivia night that runs throughout, the story of who one of the main character's father is, the story of an abuse victim, a story of a teenage girl putting her virginity up for sail in the internet and the main story for most of the book, little children lying about who bullied another child. All these stories were handled well.  We see the characters, both major and minor be interviewed throughout because of the murder that happened on trivia night. I'll be honest in saying that at the beginning of the book I thought that another character had been killed so it was a surprise to read what actually had happened.  Spoilers belo...

Brighid's Quest (Partholon Series #5 Review) by PC Cast Review

Hi ForeverBookers,  This book was good.  It took me about 150 pages to really get in to unfourtunately, and even then I really only enjoyed the last half of the book.  This tells more the story of centaur huntress Brighid, although we do see others stories' within this book as well.  Spoilers below! The first 100 or so pages have nothing to really do with the overall plot. It's just Brighid and Cuchulainn (Cu) going to find the femorians that killed Brenna, Cu's lost love. Cu is hell bent on redemption at first but when he gets to know the "new femorians" he doesn't want to hurt them as most of them are only children without parents. He wants to bring them back to find their own redemption at Macallan Castle with Clan Macallan. The new femorians are given the power of restoration by the Goddess Epona. This kind of does come into play right at the end of the novel but I didn't think we needed everything the author gave us to understand what Cu and Brighid w...
