Heartless (Chestnut Springs #2) by Elsie Silver Review

 Hey ForeverBookers,

I’m back! I’ve finished another book! “Heartless”  by Elsie Silver was AMAZING!!!! I absolutely LOVED it!!! This is book 2 in the “Chestnut Springs” series and it’s about Cade, Rhett’s brother from “Flawless,” #1, and his romance with Willa, Summer’s, from book 1’s best friend.

I read Heartless for a few readathons

Reading Rivalry - Multiple POV - Heartless” is told from both Willa and Cade’s perspectives.

Always Fully Booked Reading Challenge - Book set in Canada - I believe Chestnut Springs is set in the Rockies.

Always Fully Booked “On the Cover” Reading Challenge - A Musical Instrument - A guitar! Willa, our FMC plays guitar.

Reading the Rainbow challenge - pastel - the background of the Heartless”  cover is pastel blue!

Heartless”  had EVERYTHING I love, an FMC who’s stuck in life, a wild, yet sensitive MMC, funny moments, cute scenes, spicy scenes, heartfelt scenes. Oh, and a really cute little boy. I loved every scene with little Luke in!

Heartless” is told in dual POV, like its predecessor Flawless alternating back and forth between Willa, our FMC who’s stuck in life, unsure what her next move should be and Cade, our wild/sensitive cowboy, as I wrote above. This worked well. We could see each MC’s journey of falling in love with the other.

The story starts with Cade who is looking for a babysitter for his son, Luke because he’s a rancher who can’t be around him all the time. Enter Willa, the girl that ends up becoming Luke’s babysitter and the story goes from there…

Spoilers Below…

“Heartless. That’s what Talia called me in her letter. And I believed her.

      I still do.

But it’s hard to deny the feeling in my chest right now. The ache. The heat.

It’s especially hard to deny the bulge in my pants. The one I’m grinding against Willa.

That part does have me feeling like a teenager.

She moans, hiking a leg up at my waist, opening herself to rub back against me, and I take that opportunity to swipe my tongue into her mouth, to shape my fingers into a fist in her hair.

To go with the intensity of the moment, even though I thought I could keep it sweet and slow. That’s the thing about Willa. She doesn’t strike me as the sweet and slow type of girl.”

This sums up the book, at least to this point, 38% of the way through, I think. Cade is the cowboy/rancher much like his brother Rhett. Except Cade is a grump or heartless as the title suggests. That is, until Willa enters his life. Heartless” is an age-gap romance. Willa is 25 years old and Cade is 38 so it’s not a massive gap but I’d categorise it as such. It’s also enemies to lovers, which I EAT UP!

Talia is Luke’s (Cade’s son’s) mother, the girl Cade married when he was younger. She left him. She’s painted out to be the horrible character. Reading Heartless,” I believe that’s true at the moment. I wonder if she’ll feature more in another book down the road? Maybe she’ll have her own book? Cade has been bringing their son, Luke up since she left. Willa, the FMC in Heartless”  ADORES Luke from the moment she meets him. I loved reading just their scenes where they were out having fun! She comes to consider him as her own son, which I thought was adorable.

The spice doesn’t start until over half way through the book. Again, I eat those scenes up!

“When I glance up at him, his hooded eyes are locked on my hand. As he catches me watching him, his eyes soften and he brushes the pad of his thumb over my cheek. “You look so fucking pretty like this, Willa.”

I groan and my lashes flutter as I feel a surge of wetness between my thighs.

“A mouth full of my cock.” He guides my head in a rhythm he likes, and I remove my palm from his base, opting to explore his body. He seems to like that, and more than anything, I want to make him feel good.

I want him to want more.

“You’ve been dreaming about this, haven’t you?”

I stare up at him and nod, sucking him even harder.

“That’s why you’ve spent every single day here under my roof, driving me absolutely insane. Teasing me with that perfect ass, those goddamn nipples, and your silky hair. Even your laugh makes me hard. Did you know that?”

This is a pretty tame love scene from “Heartless.” As I said above, the spice scenes happen over half way through the book. It wasn’t boring before that, though. I loved the funny parts where Willa was getting know her boss, Cade. I also love the boss/employee dynamic.

The end of Heartless” had me almost in tears, I loved it soooooo much!

Overall then, I ATE up “Heartless!”  I got through it in TWO DAYS!!! I loved the characters, the interactions, how Summer and Rhett from “Flawless” were significant characters in Heartless”  too, even if they weren’t the main characters. I can’t WAIT to read “Powerless,” Jasper’s book next in the series! I don’t know much about him yet…he’s like a surrogate brother to Rhett and Cade, I believe. Sloane is the FMC. She was in Heartless”  but barely so I know nothing about her…

American Royals (#1 American Royals) by Katharine McGee review

Hey ForeverBookers,   I’ve just finished American Royals by Katherine McGee and I LOVED it! If you love scandal and complicated love stories in a contemporary setting, then you will love it as well! Think a royal version of Gossip Girl and you have this book in a nutshell. American Royals follows six characters, all of the new adult age range that come together to create a story of intrigue and romance. There isn’t high action or really a plot outside of the romance which was fine with me as I really enjoy stories just focused on the romance. I appreciated how “American Royals” only focused on the six different characters. There weren’t loads of personalities to get to know, and they all followed the same pattern as they’re all from or have grown up around a certain standing in society. This made the characters easy to follow and understand. It is a character led story, without as I said, much plot.  What there is of a plot of American Royals is taken up with the ascension of ...

City Of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments Book 2) by Cassandra Clare Review

Hi ForeverBookers,  I've just finished reading City Of Ashes and it was really good! I've read this book before again and I didn't think it was very good last time but now I think differently. It had everything from fighting demons, to laugh out loud parts, to heartfelt moments. The story starts from where City Of Bones finished so there will be minor spoilers below.  The characters continue developing in this second book. For example, Clary's best friend, Simon really takes on a new role as a vampire, as well as the other characters maturing too. This was good to see as it gave the story different levels that we haven't seen before. I especially enjoyed reading about Simon's transformations. There's a new character called Maia, who is a werewolf. There's some antagonism between Simon and her as in this series vampires and werewolves don't get on.   We meet Alec and Isabelle's parents here. Maryse, their mother is a strong character, who is angry...

The Hollow (The Hollow Trilogy Book 1) by Jessica Verday Review.

Hi ForeverBookers, sorry it's taken me so long to write another review. This book has taken me longer than I thought to get through.  This was a reread for me. I read it when I was 16/17 years old and it's certainly more for that age than a girl in her 20's. There were bits I liked about this book but I didn't love it. I just found the main character very whiney and self destructive to her own happiness to be honest.  When I was 16/17 years old I can remember almost swooning for the lead male character but not so much now.  The lead girl goes through a traumatic event before the start of the book and the rest basically revolves around that.  The characters were good as well. I liked how only a small cast of characters were involved as it gave the book more of a focus on the Legend Of Sleepy Hollow. However some of the characters were very annoying although they were portrayed well.  . Another good point was the settings. I could really imagine myself in some of ...
