Lovelight Farms (Lovelight Farms #1) by B.K. Borrison Review

 Hey ForeverBookers,

How are you all? I hope you’re well!

I’ve just finished Lovelight Farms by BK Borrson and I enjoyed it. It has a really simple plot and lots of feelings.

3 Stars!

We follow our FMC, Stella, who’s basically  waiting on a woman turning up to her holiday vacation place to rate it. She wants to win the main prize, which is money so she afford to keep running her vacation place, Lovelight Farms. To do this she lied and told this woman that she was in love with Luca, a hand on the farm…does she love Luca, and does Luca love her? I’ll let you read for yourself but let’s just say it’s not an easy answer for one of them!

There are sex scenes in Lovelight Farms, so if you’re under 18 don’t read this!

Spoilers Below…

“We should probably practice.” It’s something I’ve been thinking about since our walk through town. Given my reaction to his hand on my neck and his palm on my thigh, I think I need a little bit more exposure before Evelyn is here. I don’t trust myself not to squeak every time Luka kisses my neck.

“Practice what?” Luca is unconcerned, his hands relaxed on the steering wheel, thumb curled along the bottom curve.

      “Being a couple.”

A couple that touches each other. Kisses each other.”

This is where the main plot of the book is revealed, at least to Luka, our MMC. He’s not entirely sure what he’s signed up for at this point, but goes along with it!

A lot later in the plot we get, “can I—“ He swallows around the rest of his question, voice rough, distracted with the length of my collarbone and his teeth against it. “Can I touch you?”

I’m nodding before the last word leaves his lips. I don’t care that it makes me seem eager. This is Luka. He’s already seen all the messy parts of me.

Except for this one. This piece of myself that is flushed and panting as his big hands find the waistband of my leggings.” - 185

This is the start of an erotic scene in Lovelight Farms. I thought the author did a good job of keeping the romance and smut but in a cleanish way. Yes, it was there but I didn’t feel as if it was pushed in my face like so many authors like to do these days. It was tentative too. I appreciated Luca asking for permission, as so many boys don’t do nowadays in reality or in books!

There is a little bit of business talk but not much at all. This is a romance book first and foremost. The business parts work the plot portion of the book which is very low in comparison to the feelings.

Overall, Lovelight Farms was a quick and easy read for me to get through. I enjoyed it but didn’t absolutely love it, like I expected to. There was just something missing for me. I don’t know what it was, to be honest.  I liked our two main characters. It was just a little too perfect and predictable, I guess. I own the other books in the Lovelight Farms series so I’ll see what I think when I read them. The next book follows one of the side characters from this book, Beckett. I’ll read the next one sometime next spring!

American Royals (#1 American Royals) by Katharine McGee review

Hey ForeverBookers,   I’ve just finished American Royals by Katherine McGee and I LOVED it! If you love scandal and complicated love stories in a contemporary setting, then you will love it as well! Think a royal version of Gossip Girl and you have this book in a nutshell. American Royals follows six characters, all of the new adult age range that come together to create a story of intrigue and romance. There isn’t high action or really a plot outside of the romance which was fine with me as I really enjoy stories just focused on the romance. I appreciated how “American Royals” only focused on the six different characters. There weren’t loads of personalities to get to know, and they all followed the same pattern as they’re all from or have grown up around a certain standing in society. This made the characters easy to follow and understand. It is a character led story, without as I said, much plot.  What there is of a plot of American Royals is taken up with the ascension of ...

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty Review

Hi ForeverBookers,  How are you all today? I've just finished a great contemporary book! 4 Stars! NOTE: There are scenes of abuse and bullying in Big Little Lies so if you're sensitive about either of those topics this book maybe isn't for you.  Big Little Lies tells several stories at once. There's the story about the trivia night that runs throughout, the story of who one of the main character's father is, the story of an abuse victim, a story of a teenage girl putting her virginity up for sail in the internet and the main story for most of the book, little children lying about who bullied another child. All these stories were handled well.  We see the characters, both major and minor be interviewed throughout because of the murder that happened on trivia night. I'll be honest in saying that at the beginning of the book I thought that another character had been killed so it was a surprise to read what actually had happened.  Spoilers belo...

The Flat Share by Beth O’Leary Review

Hi foreverBookers,  How are you all today? I hope you’re well! I’ve just finished reading “The Flat Share” by Beth O’Leary and I’m surprised to say that I VERY MUCH enjoyed it!  4 Stars! I only wanted to read “The Flat Share” because of the TV show that’s just come out in the UK! Beth O’Leary books seemed uninteresting to me before. I will probably read more from her in the future now as I enjoyed this one so much! “The Flat Share” had romance and fluff as well as more serious topics though, which was nice to see. Leon, the main male character is black. I don’t think we see many people of colour in books based in the UK or even the States. I can only think of two that I’ve read and reviewed that feature black characters and I’ve reviewed a lot of books! This was nice to see. It’s very much a white dominant industry, I feel. “The Flat Share” tells the story of a young woman, Tiffy who needs a house to live in, when she breaks up with her long term boyfriend, Justin. He’s ve...
