Spellbound by Cait Tiernan Review

 Hey ForeverBookers,

I’ve just finished “Spellbound,” book 6 in the Sweep series by Cate Tiernan and I LOVED it! We continue the story with Morgan finding out who she truly is through Wicca, as well as battling enemies and falling in love. This book in the Sweep series is more filler than significant events but the significant events that DO happen are important! I always read a Sweep omnibus in October and this was the last story of the second omnibus!

I read “Spellbound,” one readathon, which was:

Reading Rivalry - Book celebrating a quarter quell - “Spellbound,” was published in 2001 so it’s its 25th anniversary!

The Sweep series deals with family trauma and truths.

Spoilers Below…

“When I’d found out about being a blood witch, I hadn’t known my clan and had hoped that I was a Rowanwand, a Wydenkell, a Brightendale, a Burnhide. Even a mischievous Leapvaughn or warlike Vikroth would have been fine. But no. I was a Woodbane: tainted.

Robbie and Bree had saved my life three weeks ago, when Cal, the guy I’d loved, had tried to kill me.”

Morgan is a blood witch. She finds this out in book 1, “Book of Shadows.” She also finds out that she’s from the most evil clan there is, the Woodbane clan. She tries to make discoveries about her heritage through the first books in this series. By this point, book 6, she knows that her birth mother died but not how. What does she find out in “Spellbound?” I’ll let you read for yourself but it’s illuminating.

“You don’t understand,” she said patiently. “You don’t know enough to realize what you’re doing. Hunter here is simply weak and misguided, and who cares? He isn’t worth anything to anyone. But you, my dear. You have potential I can’t ignore.” She smiled again, but it was creepy this time, like a skeleton baring its teeth. “I offer you the chance to be more powerful than you could possibly imagine.”

There are shocking parts to “Spellbound,” as well as parts where Morgan finds out who she is. An example of this is where Cal, Morgan’s ex comes to hurt her, and then at the end when Selene, Cal’s mother tries to again persuade Morgan to become the evil Woodbane witch she wants her to be. She uses her sister, Mary K to do this. Does Morgan do as Selene wants her to? Or can she somehow stay on the good side of things? I’ll let you decide for yourself but it’s a great adventure getting there.

I, personally HATE Selene and Cal because they’re written so well! They’re great villains, but I also love how Hunter starts as an uncertainty to Morgan, like she doesn’t know who he is but is inexplicably drawn to him. How does this play out over the rest of the series? I’m really excited to reread the next books to remember what happens. It’ll probably be next year, though!

I’m reading “A Court of Splintered Harmony,” my most anticipated read for 2026 next, so stand by for my review of that!

Heartless (Chestnut Springs #2) by Elsie Silver Review

Hey ForeverBookers,   I’m back! I’ve finished another book!  “ Heartless”   by Elsie Silver was AMAZING!!!! I absolutely LOVED it!!! This is book 2 in the “Chestnut Springs” series and it’s about Cade, Rhett’s brother from “Flawless,” #1, and his romance with Willa, Summer’s, from book 1’s best friend.  I read Heartless for a few readathons  Reading Rivalry - Multiple POV - “ Heartless” is told from both Willa and Cade’s perspectives. Always Fully Booked Reading Challenge - Book set in Canada - I   believe Chestnut Springs is set in the Rockies.   Always Fully Booked “On the Cover” Reading Challenge - A Musical Instrument - A guitar ! Willa, our FMC plays guitar.  Reading the Rainbow challenge - pastel - the background of the  “ Heartless”   cover is pastel blue!  “ Heartless”   had EVERYTHING I love, an FMC who’s stuck in life, a wild, yet sensitive MMC, funny moments, cute scenes, spicy scenes, heartfelt ...

Strange The Dreamer (Strange The Dreamer #1) by Laini Taylor Review

Hi ForeverBookers,   How are you all? I hope you’re well! Are you all excited for Christmas? I know I am!  I’ve just finished  “Strange The Dreamer”  by Laini Taylor and I really enjoyed it! I’ve been ill, so that’s why it’s taken me longer to read. No shade on the book, whatsoever!  “Strange The Dreamer”  tells the story of firstly Lazlo Strange, a wonderer who works as a junior librarian in the Kingdom of Zosma. He thinks he’s just a normal, 20 year old human at the beginning of the novel. He learns through Weep, the fabled city that he’s a lot more! What other properties/abilities does he have? I’ll let you read for yourself, but some were shocking to me! Lazlo also falls in love with a blue angel like figure called Sarai. I’d say that she was the secondary character but that Lazlo is certainly the main character we follow throughout, which makes sense as the novel is called Strange the Dreamer, and Lazlo’s surname is Strange.  I read Strange...

Kiss Of The Basilisk (#1 Split and Swallow) by Lindsay Straube Review

Hey ForeverBookers,   I’ve just finished my favourite book of the year, thus far.  “Kiss Of The Basilisk”  by Lindsay Straube   is an   erotic masterpiece in my eyes! It brings together everything I love in a book…forbidden romance, well written erotic scenes, it was lengthy and the characters had depth. The only thing that slightly annoyed me was the FMC’s name, Tem. I liked her full name Temperance a lot more. “Kiss Of The Basilisk”  starts with our main character, Tem following a tradition of sorts. She’s to go to be trained to have sex with the prince by a basilisk. She only goes and falls in love with the basilisk she chooses! He loves her too. What does this mean for her relationship with the prince? You’ll have to read for yourself! There were soooooo many twists and turns in  “Kiss Of The Basilisk”  that I didn’t see coming so wasn’t sure where we would end up with our characters!  I kind of wished there was a pregnancy for Tem...
